How To Remedy A Keyboard Placement Issue After iOS 8 Update

IMG_0310.JPG

Overall, I am enjoying the iOS 8 update. It took a few days for everything to run smoothly but, overall, it is a vast improvement to iOS on many levels.

And, I learned that a quick restart/reboot usually takes care of many problems.

However, I was experiencing an annoying keyboard issue Read the rest of this entry

Microsoft Word Is Available For The iPad: Get Ready To Press The Delete Button

Seriously Microsoft. What sort of passive-aggressive, self-destructive move propelled you to release the long-awaited Microsoft Word iPad App which came encumbered with the addition of a $99.00 a year subscription?

To expect consumers to pay $99.00/year to use this App when Apple’s iPages App is absolutely free is absolutely mind-boggling.

Additionally, Apple’s iPages allows one to edit documents and then email them in a Microsoft Word format if one desires.

No wonder your stores are empty and Apple’s are filled to the brim.

I mean – the $99 price take was hefty enough for an iOS app – but on a yearly basis? Are you kidding me?

Apparently, this new App is dominating the App Store with exceptional download activity, but has anyone determined how many people, upon learning that they have to pay an exorbitant yearly fee for this App, have also deleted the App? I would love to see those numbers.

And, truth be told, I am so accustomed to using iPages that I have no compulsion to change teams. Because iPages just works – and it, along with the entire iWork suite, is free with new purchases.

What do you think everyone? Did you fork over $99.00/yearly for Microsoft Word’s iOS App? Do you prefer iPages? Share in the comments.

The Ousting Of Apple’s iOS Mastermind Scott Forstall: Yay Or Nay?

You can look at yesterday’s firing of Apple’s SVP of iOS, Scott Forstall in two ways.

Number One: He was a tyrannical bully, sharing many similar traits of his mentor and former CEO, the late Steve Jobs. Read the rest of this entry

It’s A HAppy Kind Of Day for iOS 6 Customers

20120919-194455.jpg

Oh my goodness. Stop the updates. Seriously. Who can keep up? I barely had time to blow dry my hair.

And yet, all of these new iOS 6 features are making me do the HAppy Dance here. Groan – I know, pretty lame joke but aren’t you sad you didn’t think of it first?

What a day! After successfully downloading iOS 6 to my iPad and iPhone, I was also greeted with the task of updating a ton of my favourite Apps – like iMovie, iPhoto, iPages, iPages, iBank, Keynote and many, many more.

Now, to be honest, I haven’t had time to try all of them but suffice it to say that, at first glance, all appear to be super efficient and silky smooth.

Many of the Apps come with tons of new features to complement the sophistication of iOS 6. And, for Facebook lovers – all bzillion of you – there is Facebook integration everywhere you look. Just hold your finger on a photo or tap a share button in an App and watch the magic begin.

And let’s not forget Siri status updates for Facebook. Very, very nice.

And, when you visit the iOS App Store, check out the beauty of the new layout. It makes you want to shell out more money – everything old looks new again.

And the icing on the cake? Mountain Lion issued a huge update as well. Check it out! Is it long enough for you?

The only downside is that Maps is a bit of a mess. The navigation system works well enough, I suppose, but no 3D is happening at my end. I suspect that the rendering of 3D images is dependant on your location but still, all in all, I was disappointed.

Everything in time and circumstance. Geeks must be patient but sometimes it’s hard.

So, have you downloaded iOS 6 and updated your Apps? Is it all you were expecting? More? Less? Please share.

The Big Reveal: iOS 6 Availability In Your Time Zone

20120919-111927.jpg

Here’s something!

IPhoneInCanada.Ca has come across a chart via Fortune.Com that indicates when iOS 6 will be available for download in your time zone.

If all goes according to plan, this chart is “on the money” but who knows what Apple
will do at this point?

When I woke up this morning, the Software Update tab was missing in my Settings App. Then, it magically reappeared about 5 minutes later. I am sure it was just a case of the pre-update jitters, but let’s hope it’s still there come update time!

Once again, iOS 6 update will work with iPhone 3G/4/4S, iPod 4th generation and iPad 2/new iPad.

Naturally, if you are purchasing the iPhone 5 or new iPod Touch, these devices will already have iOS 6 in their system.

Do you have download fever? I sure do! Ninety minutes to go as of this writing!
